The media are constantly warning about the need for a balanced diet to assure a healthy long life. Many scientific studies show that this type of diet must include Omega 3, a fatty acid that the human body cannot produce on its own and therefore must obtain from food. Salmon contains large quantities of Omega 3.


Because of its anti-inflammatory and anticoagulant properties, Omega 3 diminishes the risk of heart disease and nervous system ailments, improves lipid levels in the blood, reduces high cholesterol and triglyceride levels and lowers blood pressure.


In comparison with red meat, salmon also has up to 97% less saturated fat. It is also low in calories and high in protein, which makes it an ideal food for growing children.
